Job Skills and Educare Training

Cape Town Child Welfare is committed to helping communities develop effective support mechanisms to care for and protect children, and to keeping families in tact.

In addition to this we are equally committed to in playing an active role in fighting poverty in South Africa.

The aims and objectives of the Project are to

  • enhance the capacity of families and community members as central resources for child protection and development
  • provide poverty relief in the form of job skills development and income generating programmes including baking, gardening, basic domestic tasks, brick making, sewing, candle making and bead work to boost household income
  • train community groups in basic early childhood development skills, enabling them to run community-based educare programmes in a co-operative manner.

Primary beneficiaries include

  • Individuals who lost child support and maintenance grants
  • Individuals who have limited or no skills and who are unemployed, or without any form of income
  • Individuals who are unemployed as a result of lack of training / knowledge
  • Families who are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS
